One of the forgotten wonders of the world: Machu Picchu, located in Cuzco, capital city of the ancient Inca Empire, is considered on of the worlds wonders, attracting thousands of tourist from around the world every year.
The longest river in the world: The Amazon river, is considered the longest river in the world, with 6,785km of length and 1000 of affluent, is also considered to be the river with the highest flow in the world with an average flow of 150.000 m3/sec. Starting in Brazil and going through the Amazon Jungle of Brazil and Peru. Is also considered one of the two "healthier" rivers in the world.
The fruit with the highest amount of C vitamin: The Camu-camu fruit that only grows in the jungle of Peru and Brazil contains 2,800mg of Vitamin C per 100 g of fruit, or almost 60 times the concentration of oranges.
The biggest corn grains in the world: Peruvian corn is considered to have the biggest grains in the world, with more than 32 different known varieties.
The softest and smoother avocado in the world: The Peruvian Avocado is considered to be the smoother and softer in the world.
The natural park with the most bio-diversity in the world: The Manu national park. The area of the park encompasses parts of the Andean department of Cusco and the jungle department of Madre de Dios. Manu protects 2 million hectares (4.5 million acres) of a territory rich in flora and fauna species, and a variety of habitats including high Andes, cloud forests, and lowland tropical rain forests. UNESCO officially recognizes this natural paradise as a world heritage site. Manu also contains 10% of the world plant species. A single hectare of forest in Manu can have up to 220 species of trees, while a hectare of temperate forest in Europe or North America may only have 20 species of trees.
The country with the most birds diversity of the world: With more than 1,701 different bird species, Perú is the country with the most bird diversity in the world.
The biggest freshwater fish in the world: The Paiche, is considered the biggest fresh water fish in the world, is natural from the Amazon Jungle. The biggest specimen captured reached 2.32m length and a weight of 133 kg.
The most beautiful horses in the world: The step horses characterized for the way they walk are considered the most beautiful horses in world. This special species of horses are not train for running or hard working, due to its magnificent way of walking, they are only use for special presentations, and its possession its considered a luxury.
The biggest flower in the world: The Puya Raimondi, only grows in some parts of "The Cordillera Blanca" in the Peruvian Andes. These are plants related to pineapple trees and it takes up to 100 years to fully flourish, reaching a diameter of about 2 meters and a height of 10 meters. Once the plant has totally flowered, it keeps it for three months before starting its death process. This plant only flowers once in its lifetime.
The deepest canyon in the world: Is the Cotahuasi Canyon in Arequipa (very close to my grandfathers house), second most important city of Peru, and the second deepest canyon in the world is also in this city, the Colca Canyon, 100km south east of the first one, and 163m shorter.
The Highest lake in the World: The Titicaca Lake, shared with our brother country Bolivia, is the world highest lake in the world being over 3,800m over the sea level. Also is the biggest lake in South America. With 190km of length and a maximum deepness of 283m.
The richest ocean in the world: Within the Peruvian domain, the Peruvian flow or better known as the "Humboldt Flow", contains the richest production of plankton phytoplankton in the world.
The Highest Train in the World: The Train from Lima to Huancayo, cities from Peru, is considered the highest train in the world. The spectacular ride takes you from sea level over Ticlio pass, at 4,815 meters, one of Peru's highest passes. No train on earth reaches a higher point than the train from Lima to Huancayo. The line winds 346 kilometres through some breathtaking sections of the Andes. There are 26 stations, 61 bridges and 67 tunnels blasting a path through the mountains.
The finest cotton in the world: The finest cotton in the world is from Peru (Pima and Tanguis).
World Guinness Record in food: Lima's most famous restaurant, "Costa Verde" holds a world record for having the most extensive variety of food. Peruvian food is considered to be the most varied in the world with 468 different dishes, whilst France features around 200. Peruvian food is considered to be within the best 4 in the world along with Italian, Chinese and Indian. Peru is the country with the most amount of different dishes in the World!

The best coffee in the world: In the most recent International Competition of Special Coffees held in Paris, Peru presented samples, though for a lack of 5,000 Euros, it had no official stand. Thirty-three countries participated in fierce competition, and there were two groups of official tasters: the European group and the American group. Both groups gave the same rating to the Peruvian coffee, and Ambassador Javier Pérez de Cuellar, former Secretary to the UN, pinned the gold medal on Peruvian farmer Justo Marín, who had the highest number of points in the show! Peru has the best coffee in the world.

One of the best inventions in the world: The liquid fuel motor (1895) and the first modern rocket propulsion system (1900) now used in all the commercial airplanes and spacecrafts, was invented by the Peruvian engineer Pedro Paulet. Be grateful to us that you can flight!
The oldest University of America: San Marcos University (founded 12.05.1551), is the oldest university of America.
The best drink in the world: The Peruvian Pisco received 14 awards from the prestigious British Association “International Wine and Spirits Competition” (IWSC). Also after competing against 2,269 wines and spirits from 15 countries in the 10th anniversary of the annual contest "Vinalies Internationales" in Paris-France the Peruvian Pisco from the Ocucaje vineyard of Peru, received the highest award in the "Aguardientes" category.
